Thailand enforces nationwide retail alcohol sales windows under the Alcoholic Drinks Control Act. Shops, supermarkets, and convenience stores may sell beer, wine, and spirits only between 11:00–14:00 and 17:00–24:00 local time. Hotels, restaurants, and night-time venues can pour drinks during their licensed hours, but they must still obey national dry days and any municipal restrictions.
Consumption outside these retail windows is generally allowed in private spaces. However, public drinking near temples, schools, or government buildings, selling alcohol to anyone under 20 years old, and serving visibly intoxicated guests are prohibited. The Act allows fines (reports cite up to 10,000 baht) for buying or drinking during banned hours, and enforcement varies by province, so always follow local signage and venue-specific policies.
